Neil Young: In a rare interview given to BBC Radio 4's Front Row arts programme in June 2012, Neil Young talked to John Wilson about his new CD, Americana. With backing by Crazy Horse, the album consists of eleven classic American folk songs. Young said that he was heavily influenced in 1964 by hearing Tim Rose who, he felt, was considerably ahead of his time in developing a sound that merged folk with rock. He cited Tim's performance of Oh Susannah, along with the Big Three, as being particularly striking. Indeed Young makes that traditional song the opening track on his new album.
